ew, gross. have you ever checked out HappyCow? it's a website that shows restaurants around the world that are vegan, vegetarian, and veg-friendly. you can enter in where you live, and then see if there's anything around you. maybe you'll find something better :) http://www.happycow.net/

ugh, i'm sorry. sometimes it can be better to just make your own veg food...or find restaurants that know what they're doing.

i understand that. for some people, becoming vegan overnight works; other people take more time with it. i was someone who gradually went from vegetarian to vegan. i started eating more and more vegan until finally i got to the point that i decided that i just had to do it and be all the way vegan. perhaps that is what will work for you. just start paying attention to the food choices you make, and each time consider picking the vegan option or seeing how a dish could easily be made vegan -- each meal counts along the way, and the more and more you'll be doing for animals.

eh, you're mom would be okay :) my mom wasn't crazy about the idea of me going from vegetarian to vegan at first, but now she's awesome about it. it's something that a lot of parents have concerns about, so we have a journal about "tips for parents" to help people out -- you should look at it to see if there's anything info that you want to share with your mom.
and i used to feel the same way as you -- i loved milk and cheese, and i thought there was no way i'd ever be vegan. but then i learned about how much cows suffer in the dairy industry (and that their babies are what are killed to be veal) and i knew that my liking dairy products wasn't worth it. and now, i don't even want milk or cheese anymore. your body can literally have an addiction to some animal products, and once you stop eating them, you don't want them as much anymore. plus, there are so many great vegan alternatives for dairy products (which you can find listed in the "tips for parents" journal).
hope you'll check out this flyer about what's wrong with dairy and eggs, and please just let me know if you ever have any questiosn about vegansm: http://afa-online.org/docs/dairy_eggs.pd...
